What is Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a chronic musculoskeletal pain and fatigue disorder which affects more and more people everyday. Many people lose their jobs simply because they are no longer able to function properly; either physically or mentally.

The symptoms of Fibromyalgia can range from depression and anxiety, to headaches, muscle spasms, muscle pains, joint pains, irritable bowel syndrome, insomnia and many more. The pains can be so severe and crippling that the individual often ends up in a wheelchair.

According to medical professionals there is no cure, and patients are led to believe that they will be stuck with this disease for the rest of their life. But it is interesting to note, that neither is there a cure for the common cold. Yet, no one when they get the cold is told that they will now have it for the rest of their life, simply because pharmaceuticals have no cure.

The common cold is one of the first signs that your body is getting sick; it doesn’t have enough nutrients, and the immune system is down, because you have too many toxins in your body. As a result your body becomes stressed and you get the cold. But with adequate rest, and proper nutrition you can overcome the cold in a few days.

Likewise you can overcome Fibromyalgia when you begin to rest and give your body the proper nutrients it needs, as your body is created to heal itself from all diseases. This includes Fibromyalgia. Many individuals have healed themselves at home without the help of their doctors just by changing their diets.

The Cause of Fibromyalgia

Medical professionals do not know what causes Fibromyalgia, but it is very simple; the body has too many toxins that it can no longer deal with. The toxins in the body, whether in the joints or in the muscle tissues begin to aggravate the joints or muscle tissues, and thus the body is in pain, and all kind of Fibromyalgia symptoms begin to appear.

The majority of toxins enter the body from the foods that are consumed. When these toxins become too many for the body to deal with, it simply stops functioning the way it should. The digestive system becomes clogged which means that wastes are unable to leave the body in a timely manner. As a result this waste circulates through the body where it can cause all kinds of diseases, including Fibromyalgia.

Natural Cure

So the answer is simple, the body needs to be detoxed and put on a new diet in order to be healed. A juice fast is the fastest way to clean and restore essential nutrients back to the body. However, a juice fast may not be ideal for you if you have never fasted before, as it will be too hard on your body. Therefore going on a raw diet and drinking plenty of freshly squeezed juices is ideal, until you are ready to go on a juice fast.

In order for your body to properly detoxify, you need to eliminate all animal proteins, processed foods, refined sugars, and other junk foods, as well as alcohol, cigarettes and drugs. Then you need to add in the good stuff like fresh fruits, leaf vegetables, root and other vegetables and nuts and seeds.

Studies have shown that Fibromyalgia sufferers are deficient in magnesium, which is a natural muscle relaxer. Magnesium can be found in foods like avocados, spinach, swiss chard, almonds, peanuts, and hazelnuts.

Calcium is another deficiency, and it can be obtained by eating dandelion greens, collards, kale, broccoli, mustard greens, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, brazil nuts, and pecans.

Another deficiency is serotonin which is a hormone that helps to induce sleep, and reduces fatigue, anxiety, depression, and fibro fog to improve your memory. Serotonin is found in living foods such as raw cacao, bananas, kiwi, pineapple, peanuts, tomatoes, avocados, broccoli, melons, dates, eggplant, figs, grapefruit, spinach, mushrooms, walnuts and hickory.

In order to obtain the most from these foods, they should be organic and eaten in their raw state, as cooking will deplete them of their vital nutrients. These foods are excellent detoxifiers and will have you feeling better in as little as 30 days. However, the road to a full recovery can take months and even years, depending on how severe your condition is.

Other things that you can do to help remove the toxins is to drink at least 3 liters of water every day. Taking hot baths or using a sauna will help you to sweat the toxins out. In addition you should also obtain moderate exercise through walking or whatever form of exercise you are able to do without aggravating your symptoms.

The key to overcoming Fibromyalgia is to make small but gradual changes so that your body can safely adjust to the new changes in your diet and lifestyle.

Healing Touch, Thanks for stopping by, it is sad that it affects so many people, but I am glad that you can overcome it. It has been two years and I still have the symptoms come back from time to time, but for the most part I am good...

I'm so glad you wrote this hub. I have known women with fibromyalgia who have the worst diets ever. But rather than prevention they are hoping for a cure - as with so many diseases - find a cure find a cure - how about prevention? And responsibility for our health - it's actually easy.

Rated up and I will share this! Thanks a lot for the right approach.

Juliannazeiter,I am sorry to hear about your condition. It causes a lot of suffering, especially when you have to be there for a little 5 yr. old. It is amazing though how well you can control the symptoms with a proper diet. And the sad part is that most doctors will not tell that to their patients. Hopefully you can find something that works for you and get better soon.

Blogging about it will definitely help, not only yourself, but others with the condition as well. I am sure that many people, including myself, would love to hear your story.

Best Wishes,
