Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian Cancer begins in one or both of the ovaries which are located on either side of the uterus. Both ovaries are only the size of an almond, and are responsible for producing eggs, and releasing them in to the fallopian tubes.

The ovaries are also responsible for producing two female hormones known as estrogen and progesterone. These hormone levels are higher before and during ovulation, and if they become too high it may cause ovarian tumors to form.

There are basically two types of tumors which form in the ovaries: benign tumors (non-cancerous), and malignant tumors (cancerous). The benign tumors do not spread outside of the ovaries, but the malignant tumors will work their way to the outside and eventually spread to other parts of the body.

Ovarian cancer has been known as a silent killer, mainly because it is difficult to diagnose at an early stage. Only about 20% of ovarian cancers are found before the cancer has spread past the ovaries.

What Are The Symptoms Of Ovarian Cancer?

The early symptoms of ovarian cancer are very similar to other common ailments, and often are left untreated or misdiagnosed. However, there is a difference between the symptoms of common ailments, and those associated with ovarian cancer; the symptoms of common ailments tend to fluctuate and go away after a day or two, but the symptoms associated with ovarian cancer do not fluctuate and do not go away, but rather, they gradually become worse as the cancer cells begin to grow.

Some of the symptoms are:

Digestive disorders.

Bladder disorders.

Abdominal pressures such as fullness, bloating, or swelling.

Urinary urgency, or frequency.

Trouble eating, or feeling full after only a small amount of food has been consumed.

Pelvic pain.

Indigestion, gas or nausea which does not go away.

Constipation.

Inconsistent menstrual cycles.

Pain during intercourse.

Lower back pain.

Chronic fatigue or lack of energy.

Who Is At Risk, and What Are The Risk Factors?

Ovarian cancer usually develops after menopause, but can also occur before menopause. The risk of ovarian cancer increases with age.

Women who have had no children, or had their first child after the age of 30.

Women who began menstruating at an early age (before 12), and had a late menopause (after 50), are also at an increased risk.

Those who have trouble conceiving. Researchers do not know whether this is because of infertility, or because of infertility drugs which are administered to the patients.

Hormone replacement therapy also plays a major role in causing ovarian cancer.

Obesity is linked to more severe ovarian cancers, and increases the risk by 80%.

A drug called danazol, which is used to treat endometriosis has also been linked to ovarian cancer.

Those who are on a high fat diet.

Those who have had breast cancer are also at a higher risk for developing ovarian cancer.

Family history, if someone in the family has had ovarian cancer it increases the risk by 10-15 percent (according to medical professionals).

The Stages of Ovarian Cancer.

The stages depend on how far the cancer has spread. Basically there are four stages to ovarian cancer, and at each stage the cancer involves one or both ovaries.

Stage 1.) The cancer may have begun to spread to the outside of the ovaries.

Stage 2.) The cancer has begun to spread to other parts of the pelvic area such as the fallopian tubes, uterus, bladder or rectum.

Stage 3.) The cancer has begun to spread to the lining of the abdomen or to the lymph nodes.

Stage 4:) The cancer has begun to spread to the liver or to the lungs.

Conventional Treatments

Conventional treatments used to treat ovarian cancer are surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation. The stage of the cancer will determine which treatment is suitable.

Natural Treatments for Ovarian Cancer.

Chinese Medicines, as well as Herbal remedies are very effective in treating ovarian cancer.
There are also home remedies which one can do to help relieve the symptoms and even reverse the cancer.

Dandelion: Take the roots and allow them to dry, then crush them into a fine powder. Take 1 tsp of the powder and boil in once cup of water. Sieve, and drink once daily.

Graviola: Crush and extract the pulp, and take 100gr. of this extract three times daily.

Grape seeds are high in antioxidants, and crushing about 50gr. into a fine paste and boiling it in a cup of water for about 1/2 hour will make a great extract to drink. 15 mL taken two times daily will help to reduce the symptoms.

Brazilian Pepper: Boil 5 to 8 in 1 cup of water for about 30 minutes, strain and drink the extract two times daily.

Ethiopian Pepper: Consume about 1/2 cup two times daily.

Korean Pepper: Take the leaves and allow them to dry, then crush them into a fine powder. Take 1 tsp. of the powder and boil in one cup of water. Sieve, and drink two times daily.

Bitter gourd: Extract and drink 1 tbsp. of this juice two times daily.

Spearmint: Simply boil 10 to 12 leaves in a cup of water and drink it once every day.

Bamboo: Take the leaves and allow them to dry, then crush them into a fine powder. Take 1 tsp. of the powder and boil in one cup of water. Sieve, and drink once daily.

Other foods to include in the daily diet are strawberries, wolfberry berries, raspberries, cranberries, blueberries, and avocados.

It is also very important to discontinue eating animal proteins, as well as refined sugars, processed foods, and most cooked foods. Eating a raw food diet may very well be able to prevent ovarian cancer to form in the first place.

Hi CaliGirlsCorner, I do not know of anyone personally who has been helped, but there are reports of women being helped. Thank you for stopping by!

I would really like to know your sources, so I can find out more about it. My sister is suffering from effects of Ovarian cancer. I am afraid that she is beginning to take a bad turn and this would be a last ditch effort. She is willing to look at it. Is there a website? Can you tell me where are the reports of women being helped. Thank you for any help. There is so little about Ovarian, its nice to see something specific for it.

CaliGirlsCorner, I am sorry to hear about your sister...I really hope that she gets the right treatment and gets better. Have you looked into the Gerson Institute, which is located in Tijuana Mexico? If you can afford it then I would go there. That would be my personal choice of treatment should I ever suffer from cancer, because they have helped many people.

But the following website has a lot of remedies listed that work when combined with a healthy diet and the cancer has not spread too far.

Best wishes to you and your sister.

Thank you for your information. She has metastasized to her left lung, and she is saying, "no more chemo, why prolong this". She has changed her diet to no meat, no sugar, and organic as much as possible. She bought an ionic foot bath and done many of those. She has flown to a place called "Health Quarters" in Colorado to manage her cancer, and taken many of the supplements and done eons of coffee enemas, cleanses, etc, etc. She has fought a tough fight. It has taken 5 years, but its taking a toll. I appreciate your help. Thank you. Interesting sites. I explored the Gerson site and the mamaherb.com. They seem uplifting with hope for the sick.

My heart goes out to you...I really don't know what to say, but if your sister has changed her diet, then perhaps she can make a recovery..it sounds like she really is a fighter for it to take 5 years.

May God bless her and keep her, no matter what happens.

Take care,
